Abdiwahab Ugas Hussein Khalif, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, met with Elkhidir Daluum, the representative of the World Food Programme (WFP) in Somalia (R). During the conference, Somalia and the World Food Programme signed a USD 185 million cooperation agreement.
The Somali minister emphasized the implementation of the country’s social aid programs as well as the WFP agreement during the meeting, urging all humanitarian aid groups to improve their reactions to the country’s drought implications.
The head of the United Nations in Somalia, James Swan, urged Somalia’s National Consultative Council leaders to prepare a plan for the conclusion of the election process, which would be followed by the heads of member states.
Swan asked the Council to address shortfalls and make the election process more transparent and credible, according to the state-owned Somali News Agency. He also emphasized his continued support for the implementation of the agreements between September 17, 2020, and May 27, 2021, noting that the Council is the main source of the election process.
